For the first time this season, all of Bates' winter athletic teams will be in action this weekend, all competing away from campus, all competing away from campus.

Men's and women's basketball will open NESCAC play this weekend, both playing on the road at Middlebury on Friday night (6 p.m. women's game, 8 p.m. men's game) and at Williams on Saturday afternoon (2 p.m. women, 4 p.m. men). The NESCAC has revised its scheduling this year so that most conference basketball games will now be played as a part of men's and women's doubleheaders.

The Nordic and alpine ski teams will be back in action for the first time since they hosted the NCAA Championships in March. The Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) begins the carnival season this weekend with the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The men's and women's indoor track and field season also begins in earnest this weekend, as both teams will compete in a tri-meet at MIT against Colby and the host Engineers on Saturday.

The Bates squash teams both have busy weekend ahead of them, with all matches being played at Yale University. The men play Yale on Friday at 5 p.m., then face St. Lawrence on Saturday at 1:15 and George washington at 6:15. They wrap up the weekend against Franklin & Marshall on Sunday at 9 a.m. The Bates women also take on Yale Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a match against Stanford on Saturday at 10:45 a.m., St. Lawrence on Saturday at 1:15 p.m., and Franklin & Marshall on Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Bates swimming and diving teams have their second straight NESCAC dual meet on tap this weekend, as they take the short trip to Bowdoin for a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday.
