Dell'Erario named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week

HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior linebacker Joe Dell'Erario was named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday, following his breakout performance in Bates' 31-23 win over Tufts on Saturday.

Making his fourth career start, Dell'Erario (Weston, Mass.) recorded several career bests and firsts on the day, as well as the single biggest play of the Bobcats' third straight win over the Jumbos.

Dell'Erario punctuated his career-high seven tackles (five solo) with his first interception, which he returned 60 yards to paydirt for a 21-6 Bates lead in the second quarter. Dell'Erario added his first career sack and pass breakup in the game. He was second on the team in tackles, behind senior teammate Josh Chronopoulos (Tyngsboro, Mass.).

Bates' last NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week was Brett McAllister '12 one year ago, after last year's win over Tufts. McAllister is now Bates' outside linebackers coach.
