Field hockey coaches to direct non-profit club

Bates' field hockey staff will help direct Coastal Field Hockey in the offseason.

LEWISTON, Maine – Head field hockey coach Danielle Ryder as well as assistant coaches Annie Kietzman and Hailey Chadbourne have accepted positions to help direct the club Coastal Field Hockey in the offseason.

Ryder will take over as the Director of Coaching and Curriculum at the non-profit club as Coastal begins a new season under new ownership. In her role, Ryder will oversee all coaches and will design and implement the program's curriculum. Kietzman and Chadbourne will each serve as head coaches within the organization.

Coastal Field Hockey – headquartered in Saco, Maine – seeks to provide opportunities for personal growth and development through the sport with an emphasis on value and accessibility.

Bates' field hockey staff has previous experience serving in such environments as Ryder has run several free clinics since moving into the coaching ranks and wrote her master's thesis at Tufts on the impact of sports on female development. Kietzman spent this past summer working for Beyond Sticks, an organization in Arlington, Va., which looks to use field hockey as a vehicle to give girls confidence and leadership skills.

Coastal Field Hockey begins its winter program in December while Ryder and the Bobcats return to action at Wesleyan on Saturday at noon.
