NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Senior captain Sarah Warden scored from the top of the circle in the 40th minute for Bates' lead of the game, and the Bobcat field hockey team went on to pick up its first NESCAC win of the season by a 2-1 score on Saturday.

The win is the second in a row for the Bobcats (3-7, 1-6 NESCAC).

Senior Bridget Meedzan (Ipswich, Mass.) answered Connecticut College's (3-4, 1-3 NESCAC) opening score in the 32nd minute with an unassisted game-tying tally just two minutes later, after finding herself one-on-one against the Camels' goalkeeper. Jillian Dahrooge had tipped in a shot by Jen Morgan to give the Camels their brief lead.

The score stayed knotted at 1-1 at the half.

Less than five minutes into the second half, junior defender Jillian Conway (Andover, Mass.) fed Warden (North Andover, Mass.) at the top of the circle for the go-ahead score

Senior goalie Becca Otley (Cumberland, Maine) made nine saves for the Bobcats, while the Camels' Jeannette Hoets and Becca Napolitano were credited with three and four saves, respectively.

Bates returns to action next Sunday, Oct. 13, to host Babson in a non-conference game.
