NEW LONDON, Conn. — Katlyn Paiva scored 1:56 into regulation and the goal stood as the only one of the game, as Connecticut College earned a 1-0 NESCAC victory over the Bates College field hockey team on Saturday.

The Bobcats fell to 5-4 and 2-4 in conference action, with only their second loss in the past six games.

Paiva has tallied 13 goals in her first two seasons with the Camels. Colbi Vaillancourt made a nice feed to Paiva in the center of the circle to earn the assist on the difference making score.

The Camels improved their record to 2-9 and are 1-7 in NESCAC action.

Lauren Pianucci made three saves en route to the first shutout of her career. Senior Cristina Vega (Needham, Mass.) stopped nine shots in the loss for the Bobcats.

Senior forward Shannon Beaton (West Newbury, Mass.) recorded four shots in the loss for the visitors.

Bates will return home to host Babson Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. game in Lewiston, Maine.
