2015: Team co-captain
Elizabeth LaVerghetta graduated from Bates College in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in both studio art and Classical and Medieval Studies.
LaVerghetta (Norton, Mass.) was probably the best and most consistent performer on Bates' women's golf team over her four-year career, with highlights including winning the Maine State Women's Collegiate Championship in 2013.
Away from the links, LaVerghetta volunteered for the First Tee Program in Massachusetts, teaching and mentoring junior golfers.
LaVerghetta's thesis project for studio art was entitled "Auctoritas," while her Classical and Medieval Studies thesis title was "Dionysus and Dracula -- Of Blood, Invasion, Inversion, Cults, and the (Un)Dying." She plans to work in a museum setting for a few years and then attend law school or pursue a graduate degree in art history or curatorial/museum studies.
LaVerghetta graduated with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.50 and was one of 38 student-athletes in the Class of 2016 to receive the Department of Athletics' Senior Scholar Award, after also winning NESCAC Spring All-Academic honors in all three years in which she was eligible.
