Women's golf places eighth at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- First-year Emily Plotnikov fired a 96 on the second day of the Middlebury Women's Golf Invitational, leading Bates to eighth place out of nine teams.

Plotnikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) bettered her first-day score of 97 by a stroke to finish at 193, good for 33rd place among 50 players.

Sophomore Elizabeth LaVerghetta (Norton, Mass.) placed 35th with Bates' second-best score, at 202, including a 98 on Friday.

First-year Penelope Ganske (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) carded a 231, followed by senior Jennalee Kulig (East Granby, Conn.) at 239 and senior captain Ali Desjardins (Auburn, Maine) at 244.

The Bobcats travel to the Williams Fall Classic next weekend.
