WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Bates women's golf team shot an 815 to hold off Johnson & Wales by eight strokes and finish in 14th place out of 16 teams at the Williams Fall Invitational.
Bates shot 410 as a team on Sunday, led by senior captain Kelly Wassarman (Middleton, Wis.) who shot a 93 after shooting a 92 on Saturday. Wassarman's two-day total of 185 was good for a tie for 67th place in the field of 94.
The host Williams College Ephs won the event with a total score of 612, defeating New York University and Amherst College by 12 strokes each. The invite doubled as the NESCAC Championships, which the Ephs won for the third straight year. The Ephs' Elizabeth Gudas finished in first place among individuals with a two-day score of 147.
First-year Brittany Seipp (Glen Head, N.Y.) shot a 103 for the second straight day to finish in 83rd place. Junior captain Chelsea Anglin (Dayton, N.J.) and first-year Andrea Hepfinger (Madison, Wisconsin) rounded out the Bates scoring in 85th and 86th place respectively.
The Williams Fall Invitational is the last event of the fall for the Bobcat women's golf team.
