Marcus Delpeche named to All-Northeast squad

Bates senior Marcus Delpeche received All-Region honors Tuesday from, as he was named Third Team All-Northeast by the website.

Delpeche (Wilmington, Del.) was made a First Team All-NESCAC selection on March 1, while twin brother Malcolm Delpeche was named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He is Bates' first all-region selection since former teammate Graham Safford in 2015.

Marcus Delpeche raised his scoring average each year, from 5.1 points per game as a freshman to 9.3 as a sophomore, 11.1 as a junior and finally 15.1 points per game this season. The 6-foot-7 forward ranks eighth in the NESCAC in scoring and third in rebounding, with a career-best 9.7 boards per game. He was equally impactful at the defensive end of the floor, both as an interior and perimeter defender.

Among his top performances this season, Marcus scored 28 points with 11 rebounds in Bates' 84-72 victory over Tufts on Jan. 28. He scored his 1,000th career point in the final game of the regular season and finished 32nd in team history with 1,025 points. 2016-17 men's All-Northeast Region team
