HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates sophomore forward Peabo Knoth has been named to the NESCAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team, announced Thursday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Knoth (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) led Bates in every statistical scoring category and ranked among the NESCAC leaders for the second straight season -- despite being increasingly double-teamed whenever he touched the ball. Knoth tied for 10th in the NESCAC in goals (5), tied for eighth in assists (4) and tied for ninth in points (14). Four of his five goals were scored in NESCAC contests, including the game-winning tally in overtime against Connecticut College on Oct. 4.

Through two seasons, the sophomore phenom has accumulated 11 goals and 10 assists in 29 games.

Knoth is the team's first All-NESCAC selection since two-time awardee and fellow Maine native John Murphy in 2011 and 2012. He is the first sophomore to receive the honor since Brent Morin '08 in 2005.

This year's All-NESCAC men's soccer teams are noticeably younger, on the average, than most years, with nine seniors, seven juniors and eight sophomores.
