No. 20 men's squash rolls to 8-1 victory over No. 27 Tufts

LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 20 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team swept seven matches on its way to an 8-1 win over No. 27 Tufts Friday night at the Bates College Squash Center. 

The Bobcats (8-2) won their third straight match while the Jumbos (6-6) dropped their second straight.

Sophomores Mahmoud Yousry (Cairo, Egypt) and Graham Bonnell (Southport, Conn.) won at the No. 1 and 2 positions respectively. Yousry defeated Raghav Kumar 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 12-10) and Bonnell picked up a 3-0 (11-4, 11-6, 11-4) win over Alan Litman. 

Bates' pair of captains both earned victories in the middle of the lineup. Junior captain McLeod Abbott (Bronxville, N.Y.) won 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-7) over Connor Wind at the No. 4 position and senior captain Anirudh Nambiar (Pune, India) battled Cameron Ewan for a hard-fought 3-1 (8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-6) victory at the No. 5 position.

The Bobcats showed off their depth with wins at the No. 6 through 9 positions as well. Junior Coley Cannon (Greenwich, Conn.) swept Aidan Porges 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-3) at the No. 6 position and sophomores Garon Rothenberg (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Benni McComish (Williamstown, Mass.) won 3-0 at the No. 7 and 8 positions respectively. 

First-year Dylan Muldoon (Devonshire, Bermuda) defeated the Jumbos' Aman Navani 3-0 (12-10, 11-1, 11-3) at the No. 9 position to round out the scoring for Bates.

The Bobcats face a stiff challenge on Saturday when they host No. 18 Franklin and Marshall at 11:00 a.m. and No. 13 Brown University at 4:00 p.m.
