HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior John Wisener was named NESCAC Men's Field Performer of the Week on Monday, as announced by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, after setting the team outdoor record in the pole vault.

On Wednesday, Wisener also received ECAC Division III New England Co-Athlete of the Week honors, sharing the award with Coast Guard's Adam Scalesse.

Wisener (Ridgewood, N.J.) set the Bobcats' team record in the outdoor pole vault on Saturday in a multi-team meet at the University of New Hampshire, placing highly in many events against Division I competition including Maine, Northeastern and Holy Cross.

Wisener cleared the bar at 16 feet, 0.25 inches in a jump-off against Northeastern's Adam Thomas for the best performance of the day among 13 men, most of whom were from Division I schools such as UNH, Maine and Northeastern. Wisener moved out of a tie for second place on Bates' all-time performance list in the event, at 15-5, and past team record-holder Matt Ondra's 16-0, which has stood as the team record since 2004.

Wisener's record-breaking performance came just one month after he broke Bates' indoor pole vault record, at 15-9.25. That previous mark had been set by former Bobcat Sam Goldstein.

From the Bates women's team, senior Kallie Nixon (Medfield, Mass.) was named NESCAC Women's Track Performer of the Week as well.
