WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates Nordic ski team got started on the EISA carnival schedule after a day's delay on Sunday, a day after conditions forced the postponement of the women's 5K and men's 10K freestyle races at the Colby Carnival.

The Colby Carnival freestyle races will be rescheduled to an undetermined date later in the season.

Sophomore Graham Houtsma (Aspen, Colo.) led the Bates men's team to the eighth-best team score (108 points) in a field of 13 teams, finishing 19th overall out of 99 men with a time of 29:15.9. Senior captain Parker McDonald (Wolcott, Colo.) placed 38th (30:00.3) and sophomore Leo Lukens (Bend, Ore.) was 44th (30:31.2) to complete the men's team scoring on the day.

Sophomore Kaelyn Woods (New Gloucester, Maine) led the Bates women by finishing 23rd in a field of 90 skiers with a time of 16:53.9. First-year Zoe McKinney (North Conway, N.H.) finished 54th in 17:52.2 and junior captain Samantha Pierce (New Gloucester, Maine) came in 58th (18:15.0) to round out the women's team scoring.
