GREENE, Maine -- The No. 1 nationally ranked Bates women's rowing team coasted to a collective 10-0 record, winning all six women's races at the 21st Presidents Cup regatta, the first the college has hosted out of Bates' newly constructed boathouse.
Bates' varsity eight led the way with a big win, finishing the 2,000-meter course on the Androscoggin River in 7:35.06, more than 23 seconds ahead of Colby (7:58.23) and more than 35 seconds ahead of Bowdoin (8:10.5).
Bates went head-to-head against Colby in the W2V8 race, winning big again, 7:56.49 to 8:25.14.
Bates' WV4 (8:16.18) outraced Bowdoin (8:38.26) and Colby (8:53.9), and the Bobcats handily won at third varsity eights (8:18.29 to 8:39.57 over Colby), novice fours (8:33.63 to 9:08.92 over Bowdoin), and second varsity fours (9:11.99 to 9:51.09 against Bowdoin).
