LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates senior captain Meredith Kelly earned the first Maine Player of the Week honor of the season, announced Tuesday by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

The 5-foot-8 guard won all-tournament team honors at the Mariner Pepsi Challenge over the weekend at Maine Maritime Academy after pouring in 26 points in both of Bates' first two games of the season, a 77-63 loss to Mount Holyoke on Friday and an 84-55 win over Simmons on Saturday. She connected on 21 of 46 field goal attempts (.457) and added 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game.

It is the first MWBCA Player of the Week honor for Kelly. She was twice named Maine Rookie of the Week in 2010-11, ultimately winning Maine Rookie of the Year honors.
