Ceesay, Hill sweep NESCAC Women's Track & Field honors

HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates swept the NESCAC Women's Track & Field Performer of the Week awards on Monday, with senior Allison Hill being named Track Performer of the Week and junior Sally Ceesay receiving Field Performer of the Week honors, after their winning performances at the Bates Invitational on Saturday.

Bates scored 194 team points to finish second to MIT (235) at the meet, followed by Tufts (154) and RPI (97).

Hill (Brunswick, Maine) won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.28 seconds, just 0.02 off of her own team record in the event. She also won the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.70) and ran the second leg of Bates' 49.23-second 4x100 relay race, which placed second to MIT. Hill is receiving the NESCAC honor for the third time in her career.

Ceesay (Bronx, N.Y.) broke the broke the 40-foot barrier in the triple jump for the first time, at a wind-aided 40-1.25, taking first place. She also jumped a non-wind-aided attempt of 11.84 meters, or 38-10.5, which puts her in fifth place in the national Division III rankings.

Ceesay also finished third in the long jump at a career-best 17-11.75 and led off Bates' 4x100 relay.

Bates competes at the UNH Wildcat Invitational Saturday at 11am.
