Olivia LaMarche tied with Katherine Cook for the fastest time of the day, helping Bates sweep the Bates/Colby Class Races on Sept. 9, 2017 at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. The duo shared NESCAC Co-Performer of the Week honors on Sept. 11, 2017.

HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior captain Katherine Cook and sophomore Olivia LaMarche shared Performer of the Week honors Monday, as the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its first weekly awards of the 2017-18 academic year.

On Saturday at the season-opening Bates/Colby Class Races, Cook (South Burlington, Vt.) and LaMarche (Lynnfield, Mass.) tied for first place in the sophomore/senior race, and for the best time overall, covering the 2.84-mile course at Pineland Farms in 16:53. The time is the fastest on Bates' home course in team history.

Both Cook and LaMarche were key members of the 2016 Bates women's cross country team that competed in the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in team history. They are Bates' first NESCAC Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week since Hannah Zeltner won the honor in the first week of the 2013 season.

Bates, ranked No. 24 in Division III in preseason, will host No. 10 Tufts, Wellesley and WPI this Saturday at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, with a starting time of 11:45am.
