Kyle McAllister '10
Listed at running back on Bates' preseason roster, sophomore Kyle McAllister(Milton, Mass.) won the training camp battle to replace Adam Kayce '07 as Bates' starting safety. In Saturday's 35-20 loss to Tufts University, McAllister showed how quickly he has grown into that role. McAllister picked off Tufts starting quarterback Matt Russo deep in Bates territory in the second quarter and even gave the offense good field position on the same play, returning the ball 30 yards to the 35.

In the third quarter, McAllister did himself one better by leaping to intercept a Tom McManama throw and following 45 yards of daylight down the right sideline to score his first collegiate touchdown. McAllister also made seven tackles in the game, six solo.
