Sam Rose '13
Bates first-year midfielderSam Roseblasted a 35-yard shot into the net in the first half, and the goal stood up as the game-winner as the Bates College women's soccer team finished the 2009 season with a 1-0 NESCAC victory over Colby College last Friday at Leahey Field.Rose (Toronto, Ontario) scored her first collegiate goal in the 36th minute of the contest. Following a stymied Bates attack on the Colby goal, Rose collected the ball near midfield and launched a high, powerful shot that sailed too high for Mules goalie Loni Pisani to reach but ducked under the crossbar for a 1-0 Bates lead that the Bobcats preserved to achieve a positive finish to the 2009 season.
