While the weekend didn't quite break perfectly for the Bates men's squash team at CSA Men's Team Nationals last weekend at Princeton, junior Walter Cabot was a bright spot in all three of the Bobcats' matches.
Bates, the eighth seed in the Hoehn Cup field, fell to top-seeded, and ninth nationally ranked, Penn by an 8-1 score in Friday's quarterfinals, with Cabot (Dover, Mass.) scoring the Bobcats’ lone points in a 3-1 (10-12, 11-6, 11-9, 11-8) decision over John Dudzik at the No. 5 position.
Bates then faced Middlebury in the Hoehn consolation semifinals and fell 6-3, though Cabot prevailed over Middlebury’s William Moore at the No. 6 spot, 7-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5.
In Sunday's 7-2 Bates win over Brown, which ended the Bobcats' season on a winning note and with a final national ranking of No. 15, Cabot completed a personal unbeaten weekend by coming back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Alexander Hsu 6-11, 13-11, 2-11, 11-9, 13-11.
