  • Five Bobcats named to National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society

    Five seniors from the Bates football team were honored Wednesday, as the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2019 Hampshire Honor Society, comprising college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their career.

    With team members and some family members and alumni present, head coach Malik Hall presented the program's annual awards, including a new one named after the late Web Harrison, head coach of the program from 1978 to 1991, who passed away in June 2018.

    On each Martin Luther King Jr. Day for the past four years, Bates football offensive coordinator Custavious Patterson has served as a head coach in the Dream Bowl in Virginia Beach, Va. It’s a tradition he will continue this year, on the heels of his first season on the Bates coaching staff, and many of his fellow Bates coaches will be joining him.

    Bates junior Jon Lindgren received All-NESCAC Second Team Defense honors on Tuesday, as the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its end-of-year awards for the 2018 football season.
  • Football leads at halftime, falls 38-13 to Hamilton on Senior Day

    The Bates football team held the lead at halftime but the Hamilton Continentals scored 26 unanswered points in the second half to spoil the Bobcats' senior day by a score of 38-13 Saturday afternoon.

  • Colby clips football 21-6 in the snow

    Colby College running back Jake Schwern ran for three touchdowns and carried the ball 40 times for 226 yards to lead the Mules past the Bates football team by a score of 21-6 Saturday afternoon in snowy conditions on Garcelon Field.

At the same time, the program has been focused on helping those around them, too. They are also creating an off-the-field identity, and developing a plan to leave the Bobcats’ “paw print” on the Lewiston community.
