Women's golf finishes second in Maine State Championships

AUBURN, Maine -- The Bates women's golf team finished second to Bowdoin and ahead of Husson at the conclusion of the Maine State Championships Sunday, hosted by the Bobcats at Martindale Country Club.

First-year Brittany Seipp (Glen Head, N.Y.) led Bates for the second straight day, shooting a 19-over-par score of 90 to follow Saturday's round of 82. Seipp birdied the par-3 fourth hole and the par-5 12th hole, and made par on three holes.

First-year Andrea Hepfinger (Madison, Wis.) followed Seipp in Bates' order with a 94, including two birdies and one par. First-year Eleanor Murphy (Schwenksville, Pa.) lowered her second-day score from 104 to 100, and junior captain Chelsea Anglin (Dayton, N.J.) rounded out the Bobcats' scoring with a round of 107, finishing at 206.

Bowdoin won the tournament with a two-day, four-player combined score of 635; Bates finished at 767 and Husson at 807.

The Bobcats will travel to South Hadley, Mass., to compete in the Mount Holyoke Invitational Sept. 23-24.
