WATERVILLE, Maine -- Sophomores Julien Lewin and Andrew Garcia-Bou both shot a 75 to earn medalist honors, leading the Bates men's golf team to victory in the 2017 CBB tournament.

The Bobcats shot 393 as a team, beating Bowdoin by two strokes for the championship. The Polar Bears shot 395 while the Colby College Mules came in third with a team score of 425. This marks the third time in the last four years the Bobcats have won the CBB tournament title.

The top five scorers on each team contributed to the overall scores, with senior Spencer Pierce (Winnetka, Ill.) shooting a 78, junior Joey Sallerson (Chicago, Ill.) tallying an 82 and senior captain Bennett Saltzman (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) rounding out the scoring for Bates with an 83.

Pierce tied four other players for the second lowest round of the day, three strokes back of individual champions Lewin (Seattle, Wash.) and Garcia-Bou (Eastchester, N.Y.).

The men's golf team is back in action Oct. 22 and 23 at the NEIGA Championships, being played at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts.
