Lewin takes second at Bobcat Invitational with another strong performance

AUBURN, Maine -- Senior Julien Lewin paced the Bates men's golf team for the second straight day, firing a 78 to finish second out of 23 individuals Sunday at the Bobcat Invitational.

Lewin (Seattle, Wash.) finished his round on a high note, recording a par on the 15th hole and a birdie on the 16th hole before notching two straight pars to finish his day one stroke back of medalist Matt McCarthy. 

Junior Preston Haugh (Alexandria, Va.) saw a significant improvement from Saturday to Sunday. He shot an 84 on Saturday and followed it up with a 79 to finish in 12th place, just two strokes back of a top-10 finish.

The Bobcats combined to shoot 651 as a team, finishing in third place out of four teams, one stroke ahead of rival Colby College.

Bates heads to the Williams Fall Invite at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass. next Saturday and Sunday.
