Garcia-Bou leads men's golf on both days of Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior captain Andrew Garcia-Bou led the Bates men's golf team for the second straight day and for the second tournament this season, shooting a 76 in the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.

Bates' two-day, four-player combined score of 656 was good for 22nd place among 25 teams in the tournament, trailing 21st-place Colby by just three strokes. Rhode Island College finished 24th, 10 strokes behind the Bobcats. Babson finished first at 588.

Garcia-Bou (Eastchester, N.Y.) shot 5 over par on Sunday after carding a 79 on Saturday, finishing in a seven-way tie for 44th place among 127 players overall.

First-year Patrick Bergin (Longmeadow, Mass.) shot 80 on Saturday and 86 on Sunday to tie for 98th place, while senior captain Julien Lewin (Seattle, Wash.) was a stroke behind at 167, tied for 101st. Senior Nick Beati (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot an 81 Saturday and an 89 Sunday to place 112th, rounding out the team scoring.

Up next for the Bobcats is the NESCAC Championship Fall Qualifier, hosted by Tufts and being played Sept. 28-29 at Sandy Burr Country Club in Dedham, Mass.
