INDIANAPOLIS -- The No. 1 nationally ranked Bates men's lacrosse team will make its second NCAA Division III Championship tournament appearance in three years and host Plattsburgh State in its opening game Wednesday at Garcelon Field.

The game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adult general admission seating and $2 for students and senior citizens. The ticket gates will open at 2:30 pm on Wednesday.

Live video streaming of the game will be provided by Northeast Sports Network.

Bates (14-1), the top-ranked team in Division III in last week's USILA coaches poll, received one of seven available "Pool C" at-large selections, along with two fellow NESCAC teams in Amherst and Tufts. Wesleyan is also in the tournament, having won automatic qualification by winning the conference championship game against Middlebury Sunday afternoon at Bates.

The Bobcats won their first 14 games before their unbeaten streak ended Saturday in the NESCAC semifinals against Middlebury. They'll look to begin a new winning streak on Wednesday against the visiting Cardinals (12-5) of Plattsburgh State, making their first NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship on Saturday with a 10-6 win over Cortland State.

The winner between Bates and Plattsburgh State's Second Round game will play the winner between Amherst and Springfield on Saturday in the Third Round.

The 34-team tournament will be played entirely at on-campus sites until the championship game May 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
