AMHERST, Mass. -- Bates sophomore Matt Chlastawa and junior Dahnique Brown-Jones were both recognized on the 2018 NEILA Division III Preseason Teams, announced Thursday by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Chlastawa (Westfield, Mass.) is one of three attackmen named Second Team All-New England and Brown-Jones (New Britain, Conn.) is one of three midfielders to receive Honorable Mention recognition.
Chlastawa recorded one of the greatest scoring seasons in Bates men's lacrosse history in 2017, racking up 53 goals and 32 assists for 85 points, second most on the team. His 32 assists tied for the team lead and his 53 goals were third on the team.
Brown-Jones tallied eight goals and four assists in 2017 while playing a vital role as short-stick midfielder for the Bobcats.
The No. 11 nationally ranked Bobcats open the 2018 season next Sunday, Feb. 24 against No. 3-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology, in a game to be played at UMass-Amherst at 4pm.
