No. 18 men's squash finishes runner-up to No. 1 Trinity at NESCAC Championships

CLINTON, N.Y. -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team fell 9-0 to No. 1 Trinity in the NESCAC Championships final Sunday afternoon. 

Bates (11-4) finishes second in the NESCAC for the third straight season while defending national champion Trinity (14-0) wins its 12th consecutive conference title. The Bantams remain the only team to win the NESCAC championship since the tournament debuted in 2007.

Trinity swept all nine matches but the Bobcats made them work for the wins. 

Sophomore Graham Bonnell (Southport, Conn.) nearly won the first game of his match at the No. 2 position before falling 3-0 (12-10, 11-6, 11-6) to Tom Demulder. Meanwhile junior Coley Cannon (Greenwich, Conn.) made it tough on James Evans down the stretch before dropping the match 3-0 (11-2, 11-7, 12-10) at the No. 5 position. 

The Bobcats compete at the College Squash Association team nationals Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25 at Trinity College.
