No. 18 men's squash falls at No. 15 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. --The No. 18 Bates College men's squash team fell 8-1 today at No. 15 Brown. Senior captain Coley Cannon earned the lone victory for the Bobcats at No. 4.

Cannon batted for a five-game win over Brown's Declan McCarthy. He won his first game 12-10, but fell in the next two by a score of 11-5. Cannon then rallied to secure the victory with 11-8 and 11-9 wins. He is now 3-1 this season.

The Bobcats battled against the Bears falling in five games at No. 1 and No. 5 and in four games at No. 2. Junior Graham Bonnell fought hard at the top spot. He dropped his first two games by a score of 11-4, but won the next two 11-8 and 11-6, but fell in the final game 11-9. At No. 5, first-year Jesper Phillips won his first game 11-8, but was tripped up in the next two 11-3 and 12-10. He rallied for a 12-10 victory in game four, but fell 11-7 in game five.

The Bobcats fall to 2-2 this year. It was Brown's season opener.

Bates is back in action tomorrow, Dec. 2, when they host No. 1 Trinity (Conn.) at 11 a.m.
