Bonnell advances to consolation semifinals at CSA individual nationals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior Graham Bonnell defeated Bard College's Rhys Nordstrom 3-0 to advance to the consolation semifinals of the Molloy East Division Friday at College Squash Association individual nationals. 

Bonnell (Southport, Conn.) dropped his round of 16 match to MIT's Joe O'Connor by a count of 3-1 (11-6, 4-11, 11-8, 11-6) Friday morning before bouncing back in the afternoon. In the consolation quarters, Bonnell had no issue with Nordstrom, winning 3-0 (11-3, 11-2, 11-4) to ensure he'll play on Saturday.

Sophomore Omar Attia (Cairo, Egypt) also represented the men's squash team at individual nationals on Friday. Attia split his first two games with Drexel's Dylan Kachur in the Malloy West Division round of 16 before falling 3-1 (11-5, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5) to move to the consolation ladder. In the consolation quarterfinals, Attia fell in a close three-game match with Dickinson's Abdelrahman Elsergany by a count of 3-0 (12-10, 11-4, 14-12). 

Bonnell takes on Trinity College's Will Curtis in the consolation semifinals Saturday at 12:40pm. Attia, a second team All-NESCAC selection, wraps up his season with a personal record of 11-10.
