Teamed with Rosen to upend No. 9 ranked Julian Gordy and Nikolai Parodi of No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championships by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.... Posted a singles record of 11-4 in dual matches in the spring, playing mostly at the No. 4 position.... Won 6-4, 6-2 over Tyler Ng of No. 21 Brandeis at the No. 3 position.... Won 6-4, 7-5 over Alex Vanezis of No. 1 Middlebury at No. 4 singles.... Won 6-2, 6-4 over Austin Gu of No. 16 Johns Hopkins at No. 4 singles.... 2016-17: Teamed with Bates senior captain Pat Ordway and advanced to the doubles quarterfinals of the Middlebury Invitational in the fall.... Defeated Weston Brach and Noah Farrell of No. 3 nationally ranked Middlebury by a score of 8-5 in the round of 16.... Posted a 2-4 doubles record in dual matches in the spring, splitting time between the No. 2 and 3 position.... Teamed with Josh Quijano to defeat Brian Granoff and Jackson Kogan of No. 20 Brandeis by a score of 8-6 at No. 3 doubles (April 1).... Played with Ben Rosen at No. 2 doubles and defeated Connecticut College's Charlie Williams and Ben Sachs by a score of 8-4 (April 22).... In singles, Kauppila advanced to the quarterfinals of the Middlebury Invitational in the fall by defeating Winston Yu of No. 40 RPI in the round of 16 by a count of 6-7 (4), 6-3, 10-5 (Sept. 17).... Advanced to the quarterfinals of the Wallach Invitational by defeating Trinity College's Courtland Boyle in the round of 16 by a count of 6-2, 6-4 (Oct. 8).... Posted a record of 6-7 in dual matches in the spring.... Split time between the No. 4 and No. 6 positions.... Earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position over Hamilton's Eyad Nagori (March 12).... Earned a 7-5, 7-6 (1) win at the No. 6 position over David Aizenberg of No. 20 nationally ranked Brandeis University (April 1)....
