TEMPE, Ariz. -- Seven members of the 2018-19 Bates men's tennis team earned All-Academic Scholar Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, with junior Nick Glover and sophomore Owen Greenwood gaining the honor for a second straight year.

Joining Glover (Austin, Texas) and Greenwood (Wellesley, Mass.) in winning the honor from Bates were senior Ben Eckardt (Montgomery, N.J.), junior Jacob Eisenberg (Armonk, N.Y.), first-year Alex Jacobs (Short Hills, N.J.), junior Jacob Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo.) and junior Vidyut Yadav (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

The seven Bobcats led the program to winning the ITA All-Academic Team award as well. The award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).
