DANBURY, Conn. -- Bates senior Adedire Fakorede was named Division III North Field Athlete of the Week Wednesday by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, for the week ending Jan. 21.

The latest honor for Fakorede (Newark, N.J.), a two-time All-American, is the first of his senior year. At Saturday's Bates Invitational, Fakorede won the shot put (47-7.75) and the weight throw (59-6.75), moving into sixth place in Division III rankings in the weight.

The Bates men's track and field team won team scoring among five Division III teams at the meet, taking first place in 14 out of 19 events. The meet also featured Division I Maine and Bryant scoring separately (by rule) from Division III, as well as independent athletes competing.

Bates will compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday and Saturday, as well as at the USM Invitational on Saturday.
