HANOVER, N.H. -- Bates junior Kaelyn Woods and sophomore Tucker Pierce, both of New Gloucester, Maine, led the women's and men's Nordic ski teams respectively in freestyle races at the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday.

Woods (New Gloucester, Maine) completed the women's 10K skate in 33:01.4, 26th-fastest among 85 competitors. Sophomore Zoe McKinney (North Conway, N.H.) and first-year Olivia Skillings (Portland, Maine) rounded out the Bates women's team scoring in 49th (35:20.0) and 50th (35:24.8) places, respectively, as the women scored ninth out of 12 squads.

The Bates men were paced in the 15K men's skate by Pierce (New Gloucester, Maine), who took 56th place out of 83 in a time of 51:31.7. Sophomore Cole Fuller (Bend, Ore.) finished 63rd (53:04.8) and sophomore Brad Ravenelle (Portland, Maine) came in 65th to complete the team scoring.

Nordic racing in the Dartmouth Carnival continues Saturday morning at Oak Hill Recreation Area with men's and women's 3x5K classical technique relay races.

Friday's scheduled alpine races were postponed. The slopes at the Dartmouth Skiway proved to be too icy and dangerous for the giant slalom, which was postponed until Sunday, Feb. 17.
