Nordic teams conclude Dartmouth Carnival with classic relays

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Bates Nordic ski teams competed in 3x5-kilometer classical technique relay races Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival, with the Bobcat women's squad placing eighth and the Bates men taking 10th place out of 12 teams.

With each team fielding two relay squads, the Bates women were led by the trio of junior Kaelyn Woods (New Gloucester, Maine), first-year Olivia Skillings (Portland, Maine) and sophomore Maya Seckinger (Winthrop, Wash.), who came in 12th place out of 24 squads with a time of 52:24.5. Junior Annie Blakslee (Edwards, Colo.), sophomore Zoe McKinney (North Conway, N.H.) and senior Samantha Pierce (New Gloucester, Maine) finished 21st in 55:58.6.

On the men's side, first-year Henry Raff (Hailey, Idaho) and sophomores Brad Ravenelle (Portland, Maine) and Carter Ros (Hailey, Idaho) placed 14th among collegiate squads in 45:09.8. Sophomore Tucker Pierce (New Gloucester, Maine), sophomore Cole Fuller (Bend, Ore.) and Nathaniel Badger (Edwards, Colo.) came in 24th (48:07.3).

With one alpine event remaining in the Dartmouth Carnival, Bates' combined Nordic and alpine teams are in eighth place among 15 teams, with 356 carnival points. Friday's scheduled giant slalom races were postponed to Sunday, Feb. 17.

The Bates Nordic teams next compete in the Middlebury Carnival, Feb. 15-16 at the Rikert Touring Center in Ripton, Vt.
