Seven men's rowers earn IRA All-Academic honors

BOSTON -- The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2017-18 academic year. Seven Bobcats made the team, including six from the first varsity eight.

Junior stroke Eric Jordan (Stratham, N.H.), senior bow Joshua Bilchik (Brookline, Mass.), senior captain Mats Terwiesch (Wynnewood, Pa.), sophomore Maxwell Milavetz (Salt Lake City, Utah), senior Quinn Gardner (Tucson, Ariz.) and senior Roderick Pratt (Arlington, Mass.) represented the 1V on the All-Academic Team while second varsity eight junior Trevor Fry (Groton, Mass.) earned a spot as well.

To be eligible for recognition a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible), be an institutional letter winner and also competed at the 2018 IRA National Championship Regatta. This was the first time Bates had qualified to compete in the prestigious event. In all, 302 student-athletes from 28 member institutions were recognized.
