Men's rowing races Marist, WPI, Hamilton, Connecticut College in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bates men's rowing team raced boats from Marist, WPI, Hamilton and Connecticut College Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond, placing ahead of the majority of its competition.

Bates' first varsity eight placed third, less than a second behind WPI, 6:37.4 to 6:37.77. Marist won the race (6:24.2), Hamilton (6:49.55) and Connecticut College was a scratch.

The Bobcats' second eight (M2V8) outraced WPI for second place out of five boats. Marist (6:47.6) won, followed by Bates (6:52.72), WPI (6:55.47), Hamilton (7:09.06) and Conn (8:33.89).

Bates' M3V8 took second place in a four-boat race (7:03.04), topping Marist B (7:10.8) and WPI (7:11.0) and trailing Marist A (6:48.3).

Bates men's rowing next races on Saturday against Tufts and Wesleyan on the Malden River.
