HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates sophomore Kirsten Pelletier was named NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, after tossing her second no-hitter of the year.
On Tuesday, Pelletier added ECAC Division III North Pitcher of the Week honors.
Pelletier (Sidney, Maine) blanked Colby on Friday with 10 strikeouts in five innings, as the Bobcats clinched fourth place in the NESCAC East Division, along with a berth in this weekend's NESCAC tournament. She followed that with a complete-game shutout at Colby in the second day of Saturday's doubleheader, helping Bates win its 20th game for the first time in team history.
On the week, Pelletier was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 12.0 innings, 18 strikeouts and two hits allowed, for an opposing batting average of .053.
Pelletier is 11-8 with a 1.84 ERA, one save and 112 strikeouts in 121.2 innings this season. At the plate, she is batting .328 with 10 RBIs. She also threw a seven-inning no-hitter in Bates' season opener against North Central (Minn.) in March.
The Bobcats (20-13) travel to Amherst for the NESCAC tournament, which takes place Friday through Sunday. The Bobcats will take on the host Mammoths (26-5) in the opening game of the single-elimination tournament on Friday at 2:30pm.
