TROY, N.Y. -- Bates first-year Emma Jarczyk placed 12th among 23 competitors Saturday in the women's 1-meter diving competition on Saturday at the conclusion of the Division III North-Northeast Regional Diving Championships at RPI.

Jarczyk (Sudbury, Mass.) scored 406.65 points over 11 dives, edging Trinity's Emily Johnson by 0.35 for 12th place. RPI's Madeline Miller came in 11th with 410.95.

Seven women from the regional advanced to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Indianapolis. The top three in both disciplines -- 1-meter and 3-meter -- received automatic bids.

Jarczyk scored 439.55 points, just 13 shy of the team record, to place eighth out of 23 women in the 3-meter competition on Friday. Her 11-dive score fell only 13.00 points shy of eight-time All-American Kelsey Lamdin's score of 452.55 from Feb. 22, 2009.

Saturday's result confirms Bates' contingent at NCAAs will comprise a program-record one man and four women -- junior Matthew Gagne (Winnetka, Ill.) from the men's team and first-year Sara Daher (Marblehead, Mass.), sophomore Caroline Depew (Hudson, Ohio), sophomore Lindsey Prelgovisk (Oakland, Maine) and first-year Julia Smachlo (Rexford, N.Y.).
