Beaulieu named First Team All-State by MWBCA

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates senior Allie Beaulieu received her second postseason honor in the past week on Tuesday, as the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced her selection to the Maine All-State First Team.

Beaulieu (Swampscott, Mass.) also received Second Team All-NESCAC honors last Wednesday from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Beaulieu had her finest season to cap off an excellent four-year career in 2012-13, averaging a team-high 14.4 points per game, as the Bobcats went 10-1 against in-state opponents on the year, the only blemish a defeat to nationally ranked Southern Maine. Bates also went 4-0 in CBB play against rivals Bowdoin and Colby.

Beaulieu ranked fourth in the NESCAC in scoring average, as well as fourth in the league in assists per game (3.3) and 16th in rebounds per game (5.6). She finished the year ranked 17th in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.416) and 22nd in 3-pointers made per game (2.67), while ranking second and first in those respective categories within the NESCAC.

Impressively, Beaulieu didn’t miss a game this season, yet also led the NESCAC in minutes played per game, at 34.7. During one particularly shorthanded stretch of Bates’ injury-riddled season, Beaulieu only came off the floor for six of a possible 325 minutes over seven games.

Beaulieu made her mark in Bates’ record book several times this season, beginning with Game 4 at Husson on Nov. 27, when she passed Lauren Dubois’ standing record of 150 career three-pointers. She ended up with 64 threes on the season, breaking another Dubois record, to finish with 206 in her career. Her 1,170 career points put her in seventh place on Bates’ all-time scoring list.

Beaulieu becomes Bates’ first All-State selection since Annie Burns '12 made Second Team in 2011; the Bobcats were recognized in last season's all-state honors with Molly Brown's selection as 2012 Maine Rookie of the Year.
