LEWISTON, Maine –- The Bates women's lacrosse team repeated as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, while rising seniors Melanie Mait and Allie Solms received 2017 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honors, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association announced Wednesday.

It is the first year receiving the honor for both Mait (Ogunquit, Maine) and Solms (Bedford, N.H.). To earn Academic Honor Roll laurels, a student-athlete must have reached junior year academic status and have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.

Mait scored four goals with four assists on attack this season, while Solms collected four ground balls and caused three turnovers on defense for the Bobcats.

As a team, Bates was one of 308 programs across Divisions I, II, and III and the NAIA to achieve Academic Honor Squad status for maintaining a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in the 2016-17 academic year.
