CASTINE, Maine -- The Bates College women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 1-0 non-conference victory at Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday at Ritchie Field, moving the Bobcats to 3-0-1. MMA dropped to 1-5.

The last time Bates was unbeaten through four games was in the 2004 season.

While Bates dominated play and finished with a 30-3 difference in shot attempts, sophomore Julia Rosen (Springfield, Ill.) provided the game's only score in the 32nd minute.

Senior midfielder Maggie Coco's (Avon, Conn.) corner kick found Rosen in the MMA penalty area, and the sophomore forward snuck the ball past Mariners goalkeeper Maggie McConkey for her second goal this season, and the seventh in her career. The assist was Coco's second this season and the third in her career.

Maine Maritime had a chance to tie the game late, when Makayla Lewis had a breakaway in front of the net, but sophomore Bobcat keeper Allegra Sacco (Medway, Mass.) beat her to the ball by a fraction of a second.

McConkey was sharp in net for the Mariners, making 12 saves. Sacco and sophomore starting goalie Sarah McCarthy (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) combined for the shutout in net for Bates.

Bates plays host to the University of New England on Tuesday at 4:30pm.
