No. 16 women's squash takes down No. 18 Bowdoin 8-1

LEWISTON, Maine -- Avenging their regular season loss from a year ago, the No. 16 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team beat No. 18 Bowdoin with ease on Friday by a final count of 8-1 at the Bates College Squash Center.

Sophomores Katie Bull (Sudbury, Mass.) and Molly Brooks (Charlottesville, Va.) continued their undefeated starts to the season with 3-0 wins at the No. 7 and 8 positions respectively. Bull defeated Mariela Mendoza 11-6, 11-3, 11-5 and Brooks knocked off Perla Rubi 11-1, 11-3, 11-7.

Bates (3-1) was once again strong at the top, with victories at the No. 1-3 positions. Sophomore Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) defeated Sarah Nelson 3-0 (11-6, 11-5, 12-14, 11-4) at the No. 1 position on the glass court. First-year Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) swept Lindsey Bindra 11-6, 11-7, 11-4 at the No. 2 position and sophomore Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) earned a 3-1 (11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9) win at No. 3 over Alexa Horwitz. 

The senior captain duo of Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.) and Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) both swept their respective opponents at the No. 5 and 6 positions. Dunn won 11-9, 11-6, 11-2 over Chloe Polikoff and Cabot prevailed 11-3, 11-2, 11-2.

The Bobcats showed off their depth at the No. 9 position with first-year Nubia Beasley-Bartee (Chicago, Ill.) beating Natasha Belsky 3-2 (14-12, 5-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8) in a back-and-forth battle. 

The women's squash team visits Wesleyan on Saturday for a 2:00 match against the Cardinals.
