WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Junior Luca Polgar improved her personal record to 6-1 on the season with a sweep at the No. 1 position but the No. 18 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team fell 8-1 at No. 13 Williams on Saturday.

Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) defeated the Ephs' Julia Ward by a count of 3-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-4) at the top of the ladder. Polgar, a two-time first team All-NESCAC selection, continues to build on her excellent Bates career. She has swept four matches so far this season while playing exclusively at the No. 1 position.

But Williams (6-6) took care of business against the Bobcats (3-4) at the other eight positions in the lineup.

Besides Polgar, senior captain Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) turned in the strongest performance of the day for Bates. She took Sarah Willwerth to four games in a 3-1 (11-8, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7) loss at the No. 3 position.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday morning at No. 15 Middlebury.
