Women's squash pounds host Colby 9-0

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team defeated Colby for the 18th year in a row Thursday night, rolling to a 9-0 decision over the host Mules.

All nine player in Bates' (4-5) lineup defeated her Colby (2-5) opponent in three games, led by the reigning NESCAC Player of the Week, junior Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary), who defeated Sydney Ku 12-10, 11-3, 11-1 at the No. 1 position on the ladder to improve her individual record this year to 8-1.

All-NESCAC senior captains Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czechia) and Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) defeated Julianna Song and Lily Wain in straight games at the second and third positions, respectively.

Sophomore Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) played her first match of the year and defeated Olivia Silverman 11-5, 11-7, 11-4 in the fifth spot. Also raising their records this season were seniors Molly Brooks (Charlottesville, Va.) and Katie Bull (Sudbury, Mass.), sophomore Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and first-years Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) and Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.).

Bates next faces Connecticut College Friday at 6pm at Yale University.
