LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team rolled to a 9-0 win over No. 30 Vassar Saturday afternoon in the Bobcats' home opener.

Bates (2-0) swept all nine matches against the Brewers (4-2) to pick up a second straight win.

Senior captain Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) and junior Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both won for the second consecutive day at the top of the ladder, with Polgar sweeping Claire Coss 3-0 (11-4, 11-1, 11-3) at the No. 1 position and Manternach easing to a 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-4) win over Claire Weiss at the No. 2 position.

Polgar and Manternach are the only upperclassmen in the starting nine for now. The two sophomores in the lineup both earned wins as well. Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.), who went 15-3 in her rookie season, won 3-0 (11-1, 11-4, 11-6) over Alessandra Pilkington at the No. 4 position on Saturday. And Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) earned a 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-0) win over Odie Berkson at the No. 8 position.

The five first-years in the Bates lineup continue to impress.

Playing at the No. 3 position, Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up the first win of her collegiate career, a 3-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-7) victory over Sydney Nemphos.

Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador), Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) and Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) won at the No. 5-7 positions respectively. Parker defeated Nicole Pihlstrom 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-1), Haghighi won 3-0 (11-5, 11-2, 11-3) over Isabel Bronson and Dotson had no issue with Samantha Henderson, picking up a 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-2) win.

The Bobcats' depth is evidenced by Lucy Moseley's (Philadelphia, Pa.) strong start to the season at the No. 9 position. She picked up her second straight sweep on Saturday, this time beating Vassar's Lucie Bisbee 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2).

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, December 7 with a road doubleheader. Bates takes on Wesleyan at 11am and Trinity at 4pm.
