Women's tennis wins 6-3 over No. 32 Gustavus Adolphus

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Bates women's tennis team won two out of three doubles matches and at the bottom four singles positions to score a 6-3 victory over No. 32 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, in the Blue-Grey Invitational at the University of Mary Washington.

The Bobcats (4-4) took a 2-1 lead with a pair of 8-5 doubles victories. Juniors Isabelle Rovinski (New York, N.Y.) and Lauren Hernandez (Dayton, N.J.) defeated Simona Potockova and Hannah Borgh at second doubles, while first-years Anna Rozin (Toronto, Ontario) and Sydney Byrnes (Aix-en-Provence, France) teamed up to beat Anna Stutz and Ginger Valentine at No. 3 doubles.

Rozin went on to post a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles over Lilly Hartmann. Junior Suzanne Elfman (Longmeadow, Mass.) triumphed 6-0, 6-3 at fourth singles, while Rovinski and Hernandez both picked up straight-sets victories at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

The Bobcats conclude tournament play Sunday at 8am against Southwestern (Tex.) University.
