Women's track places five athletes on USTFCCCA All-Academic list

NEW ORLEANS -- Three recent graduates and two rising juniors from the Bates women's track and field team earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2016-17 track & field seasons, announced Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Bates' awardees were sophomore Ayden Eickhoff (Corvallis, Mont.), senior Allison Hill (Brunswick, Maine), senior Sadie James (Avon, Maine), sophomore Sarah Rothmann (Andover, Mass.) and senior Jessica Wilson (Cumberland, Maine).

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards: Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship; Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.

Eickhoff (indoor distance medley relay), Hill (indoor 200 meters, outdoor 100-meter hurdles), Rothmann (indoor distance medley relay) and Wilson (indoor distance medley relay, outdoor 1,500, outdoor 5,000) all earned athletic All-America honors in 2016-17. Meanwhile James, who achieved a national ranking in the 10,000-meter run as a member of the outdoor track team, had another standout winter on the Bates Nordic ski team, competing for a second straight year in the NCAA National Collegiate Championship.
