Volleyball drops NESCAC opener to Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Senior captain Chandler McGrath recorded a team-high nine kills but the Bates volleyball team fell to Connecticut College Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-15). 

The Bobcats (2-5, 0-1 NESCAC) also got four kills each from junior Lisa Slivken (New York, N.Y.) and senior Nicole Peraica (East Northport, N.Y.). But the Camels (5-1, 2-0 NESCAC) got 12 kills from Alex McDevitt, 11 kills from Jenny Kellogg and 10 kills from Sam Hunter to control the match. Katia Elisman tallied a match-high 38 assists for the Camels.

First-year Julia Panepinto (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the Bobcats with nine assists while junior captain Jacqueline Forney (Bloomington, Ind.) added seven assists of her own. 

First-year Gabi Eustache (New York, N.Y.) continued to impress at libero, finishing with a match-high 16 digs. Meanwhile four different Camels finished with double digit digs, led by Jenny Kellogg with 14. 

The Bobcats play a non-NESCAC match Wednesday night against Bowdoin starting at 7:00 p.m. It marks the Bobcats' first home match of the 2016 season.
